Resumen

  • This article presents empirical evidence about the relationship between job openings and unemployment through a Beveridge Curve for the ciTY of Popayán between 2001 and 2005, following a panel data model by work areas. The results of the model show that the elasticiTY of unemployment with respect to job openings is statistically significant and positive. This result can be due to the existence of asymmetric shocks in the different sectors of Popayán’s economy that would be reflected in the dynamics of the work areas. Thus, a recomposition of the economic activities of Popayán’s economy would be taking place during the time period under study.
